The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the State of Punjab for September 23, asking it to respond in two weeks to a petition filed by former minister and SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia for anticipatory bail.

Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya gave the order on Majithia's plea in connection with a case registered against him on July 31 under the provisions of the BNS at the Civil Lines police station in Amritsar. An Amritsar court had earlier dismissed his anticipatory bail application in this case.
&nbsp;
Majithia&rsquo;s counsel has been insisting that the case against him is politically motivated and the charges fabricated.
