The Uttarakhand High Court has asked the director of Jim Corbett National Park to clarify why newly registered local vehicle owners have been excluded from offering services inside the park.
The director has been told to submit a detailed report within 10 days, explaining the criteria used to register new vehicle operators.
Petitioners Chakshu Kargeti, Savitri Agarwal and others told the court that new vehicle operators with valid permits were left out of the list issued by the park.
They said that as per guidelines, both new and old permit holders who meet the conditions should be allowed to take part in the lottery system for gypsy operators at the Jim Corbett National Park.
They claimed the park is registering operators under a special category and not allowing those who got permits in the last two years to participate.
They added that these operators have valid RTO permits, and their exclusion goes against earlier court orders. Many of them are now unemployed due to this move.
