Summer has arrived earlier than usual this year across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and many other parts of the country, with temperatures already soaring in the first week of April. Chandigarh has recorded higher temperatures compared to the same time last year, signaling an unusually hot start to the season.

Chandigarh Meteorological Center Director and Senior Meteorologist Surendra Pal told ANI that such high temperatures were only experienced after mid-April last year. However, this year, the heat has intensified much earlier.

He added that while the weather may remain relatively pleasant for a few more days due to the impact of a Western Disturbance, it will offer only limited relief, and heatwave conditions are likely to follow across the region.

The Meteorological Department has forecast that this year will be hotter than the previous one and has advised people to take necessary precautions.

Residents have been urged to stay indoors unless necessary and to pay special attention to the safety and comfort of children and the elderly. To reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses, people are being advised to drink plenty of water, wear light and loose-fitting clothes, and avoid direct exposure to sunlight.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a heatwave is expected in various parts of Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. For Rajasthan, the forecast includes partly cloudy skies with chances of rain, thunderstorms, or duststorms on April 11 and 12, while similar conditions are expected today as well. Haryana may experience light rain on April 10 and 11.

In Punjab, the skies are likely to remain partly cloudy, with the possibility of rain, thunderstorms, or duststorms on April 10, followed by partly cloudy skies from April 11 to 13.

The IMD has specifically warned that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Saurashtra & Kutch on April 9. On April 10, isolated pockets of Saurashtra and Kutch may continue to experience heatwave conditions, while Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi are likely to be affected again on April 15.

Today, Punjab is expected to see a maximum temperature of around 39 degrees Celsius and a minimum of approximately 20 degrees Celsius. Tomorrow, the maximum temperature is expected to drop slightly to around 33 degrees Celsius, with the minimum remaining steady at 20 degrees Celsius.
