Several parts of Jharkhand experienced heavy rain on Thursday morning, while the weather department issued a hailstorm alert for a few districts, a meteorological official said.
Rain accompanied by thunderstorms lashed Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega, East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharswan, and West Singhbhum. According to officials, Ranchi recorded 11.6 mm of rainfall, while Seraikela received 23.5 mm.
Simdega reported 10.5 mm, Lohardaga 7.5 mm, and Bokaro 2 mm of rainfall till 8:30 am on Thursday.
Abhishek Anand, in charge of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, stated that the showers and thunderstorms were caused by a western disturbance and a trough at lower atmospheric levels.
"Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rain were observed in various parts of the state over the past 24 hours due to these weather conditions," he explained.
Additionally, the Met department has issued a hailstorm alert for parts of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharswan, warning residents to take necessary precautions. Authorities have advised people to stay indoors during thunderstorms and follow weather updates for further developments.
