Heavy rain to continue across Himachal

The Meteorological Centre in Shimla said heavy showers are expected in Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur during the day. Other parts of the state are likely to receive light to moderate rain.

Heavy rainfall is likely to continue in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts. A yellow alert is in place for Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Chamba.

 

The Meteorological Centre in Shimla said heavy showers are expected in Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur during the day. Other parts of the state are likely to receive light to moderate rain.

 

The weather department said minimum temperatures are expected to stay close to normal levels. Maximum temperatures may drop by 2°C to 6°C over the next 24 hours.

 

Among the major towns, Paonta Sahib recorded the highest minimum temperature at 25°C. It was followed by Bilaspur at 24°C, Kangra at 23°C, Mandi at 23.3°C, Sundernagar at 22.4°C, Dharamshala at 21.6°C, Nahan at 21.1°C, Bhuntar at 19.9°C, Solan at 19.6°C, Manali at 16.9°C, Shimla and Dalhousie at 16.8°C each, Kasauli at 18°C, Kufri at 15°C and Keylong at 12°C.

 

Barmour in Chamba district recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 11°C.
