Himachal Pradesh is likely to witness heavy snowfall and rainfall from Thursday onwards. The Met Department has issued yellow and orange alerts for several districts across the state.
A yellow warning has been issued for January 22 for Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Kinnaur, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una and Lahaul and Spiti, as heavy precipitation is expected at isolated places. An orange warning has been issued for Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Una, Bilaspur, Chamba, Solan, Sirmaur and Lahaul and Spiti for January 23, predicting heavy snowfall, hail, rain and thunderstorms. Yellow alerts have also been issued for Shimla, Hamirpur and Kinnaur for the same day.
The department said except for January 25, heavy snowfall and rainfall are likely to continue across the state till January 27.
The weather remained mostly dry in the state over the past 24 hours. Minimum temperatures were largely normal, though they were 2°C to 3°C above normal at a few places, ranging from minus 7°C to 9°C. Maximum temperatures at many locations were 2°C to 6°C above normal, ranging between 2°C and 25°C.
