Security has been stepped up around Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence following a high-alert input from the Special Branch amid the ongoing protests over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations.
According to security inputs shared with the state government and police headquarters, the presence of some alleged anti-social elements and people with criminal backgrounds during the agitation has prompted authorities to strengthen the Chief Minister’s security.
The Special Branch has also advised increased surveillance around the Chief Minister’s residence.
The CM’s residence has been surrounded by additional barricades, while extra police personnel have been deployed in and around the premises. Additional security personnel have also been assigned to Soren’s protection.
Security forces have been instructed to closely monitor the movement of people in the vicinity and immediately verify any suspicious activity.
The security alert comes amid several days of protests by student groups demanding action over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

The agitation has also drawn the participation of leaders and workers from various political parties.
The situation came under increased scrutiny after an attempt by BJP leaders and supporters to gherao the Chief Minister’s residence. During an earlier Assembly gherao, photographs purportedly showing protesters carrying airguns, pistol-like objects and other items resembling weapons circulated on social media, prompting security agencies to heighten vigilance.
The Special Branch has reportedly identified some individuals considered a potential security concern. Authorities are also taking note of alleged abusive and objectionable comments directed at the Chief Minister and his family on social media.
Security agencies have expressed apprehension that anti-social elements could exploit the ongoing agitation to create disturbances near the Chief Minister’s residence. Consequently, forces have been directed to maintain heightened surveillance and closely monitor suspicious persons and activities linked to the protests.
