Jailed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today came out of the Birsa Munda Central Jail to attend the last rites of his uncle Raja Ram Soren, who passed away due to illness on April 27.
Soren, who is under judicial custody after his arrest in a land scam case related to alleged money laundering, was taken to his native village Nemra in Ramgarh district in police custody.
He will be sent back to jail after attending the rituals.
The former Jharkhand CM met his wife Kalpna Soren and his kids after coming out of jail.
He has donned his father Shibu Soren’s Avatar with a long beard and moustache.
Soren also met his parents Shibu Soren and Rupi Soren at Nemra and other relatives at Nemra.
Notably, Soren had applied for 11 day’s interim bail to attend the funeral and last rites of his uncle at the PMLA court in Ranchi, which rejected his petition.
Later, he applied for 3 days’ bail at the Jharkhand High Court for the same purpose.
The High Court also rejected his petition.
However, the High court granted him permission to attend the last rites of his uncle for a few hours under police custody.
The High Court also barred him from interacting with the media and giving any political statement during the period.
