Officials confirmed that high-speed mobile internet and outgoing calling services on prepaid connections have been restored across the Kashmir Valley, bringing relief to residents after several days of communication restrictions.

Pertinently, internet services were restricted to 2G speed and outgoing prepaid mobile calling services were suspended on Sunday, March 1.

The step was necessitated flowing eruption of widespread protests across Kashmir valley, with several parts witnessing intesnsity over killing if Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei in US-Israel strikes. Kashmir has thick pockets of Shia community where protesters came out in huge numbers to mourn the death of religious leader.

Officials said the resumption of services would ease difficulties faced by the public, particularly students and businesses that rely heavily on internet connectivity for academic and commercial activities. With the restoration of high-speed data and prepaid calling facilities, digital communication and online services are expected to gradually return to normal across the Valley.

Due to these restrictions many residents, especially whose family members are stuck at different places due to middle east conflict  faced immense difficulties in communication as also in making digital payments, besides other things .

Authorities however said the situation continues to be monitored to ensure the smooth functioning of communication networks, even as the officials further said that normalcy has been restored across Kashmir and that all restrictions imposed earlier as a precautionary measure have been lifted.

Authorities on Friday morning indicated  that high speed internet services and prepaid calling across Kashmir will be restored by evening following a review of the prevailing situation. The services were suspended on Sunday following the protests over the death of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.Officials said the decision comes after the situation across Kashmir remained largely peaceful throughout the day on Friday.
