The cold wave is set to intensify across Himachal Pradesh as maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 2°C to 4°C over the next few days. The weather department has issued a warning for colder days ahead.
According to the State Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry till November 28, but temperatures will fall further, increasing cold wave conditions mainly in the higher regions of Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti, Kangra, Chamba, Shimla and Kullu districts.
Meanwhile, the weather remained mostly dry in the last 24 hours, and much of the state witnessed a bright sunny day. Moderate fog was reported in Bilaspur and Sundernagar in Mandi district. Minimum temperatures in the higher reaches dropped by 2°C to 4°C, ranging between minus 6°C and 11°C. Maximum temperatures were close to normal, with some areas recording 2°C to 6°C above normal, in the range of 12°C to 26°C.
Shimla recorded a minimum of 7°C, while Dharamsala, the winter capital, recorded 7.4°C. Popular tourist spots Manali and Kasauli recorded minimum temperatures of 2.1°C and 8.6°C. Kangra recorded 6.7°C, Mandi 7.1°C, Solan 4.6°C, Hamirpur 6.2°C, Kufri 4.5°C, Paonta Sahib 12°C, Bhuntar 4°C, Sundernagar 5°C, Bilaspur 9.5°C, Reckong Peo 2.6°C, Narkanda 2.1°C, Nahan 8.9°C, Keylong minus 4°C and Kukumseri minus 3.8°C.
Una was the hottest place with a maximum temperature of 26°C, while Tabo village in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest, recording a minimum temperature of minus 6.6°C.
