Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Kamlesh Kumar Pant held a virtual review meeting with all Deputy Commissioners to take stock of the monsoon situation in the state. He asked all district administrations to remain on high alert as heavy rain continues to pose a risk of flash floods, landslides and other incidents.
The meeting covered the overall monsoon situation, including rain-related incidents, relief and restoration work, road connectivity, power and drinking water supply, as well as the preparedness of district authorities.
Deputy Commissioners shared updates from their respective districts and briefed the Chief Secretary on the measures being taken to deal with the impact of heavy rain and other monsoon-related emergencies.
Pant directed all Deputy Commissioners to remain fully prepared and respond quickly to any situation caused by heavy rainfall, flash floods, landslides, cloudbursts or other weather-related incidents.
He also asked district officials to closely monitor areas considered vulnerable and maintain constant coordination with the state government and other departments.
The Chief Secretary directed officials to restore essential services as quickly as possible in case of disruption. These include roads, electricity, drinking water facilities and communication networks.
He also stressed the importance of sharing weather updates and public warnings on time so that people remain informed and the risk to life and property can be reduced.
Pant said the state government is committed to protecting people and reducing the impact of monsoon-related disasters. He said all departments and district administrations must work together to strengthen disaster preparedness and response.
He further called for all possible steps to be taken to prevent loss of life and minimise damage to public property and critical infrastructure during the ongoing monsoon season.
