Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state was going through a very difficult time because of continuous heavy rain in recent days. Normal life has been badly disrupted.
He said rivers and streams, including the Beas, were overflowing, and landslides and flash floods had caused huge damage in many areas. Kullu-Manali has been hit the hardest.
Sukhu said the administration was on high alert. Schools in several districts have been closed to keep children safe.
He appealed to people to follow government advisories and stay away from rivers, streams, and other risky places. He assured that rescue and relief work was going on with full commitment. The safety of people, he said, wass the government’s top priority.
“This is a testing time for our state,” Sukhu said. “With unity, prayers, compassion, and caution, we will overcome this disaster together.”
