Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur on Friday supported his cabinet colleague Vikramaditya Singh, whose recent remarks about officers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have created a controversy in the state. Singh’s statements have led to a sharp debate between ministers and bureaucrats.

The Education Minister urged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to personally talk to Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh and resolve the issue at the earliest.

On Tuesday, Vikramaditya Singh had alleged that some IAS and IPS officers from outside Himachal Pradesh were involved in unfair distribution of public funds. He also said he would expose such officials at an appropriate time.

He specifically accused certain officers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar of working against the interests of Himachal Pradesh. He claimed that they were misusing central funds meant for the state.

The remarks led to mixed reactions within the government. While some ministers questioned the loyalty of officers, others defended them and said they were doing good work for the state.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Rohit Thakur said if Vikramaditya Singh has raised any issue, it is the responsibility of the Chief Minister, as head of the government, to address his concerns.

He also said IAS, IPS and IFS officers from other states have made significant contributions to Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, Singh’s comments should not be seen as a general statement against all officers from outside the state.

Rohit Thakur added that officers with negative thinking can come from any part of the country, including Himachal Pradesh itself.

However, he maintained that Vikramaditya Singh is an efficient and capable minister who has raised certain concerns. He said these should be properly addressed by the Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Sukhu has not directly reacted to Singh’s allegations. However, during a visit to Delhi on Thursday, he stated that there was no conflict between ministers and officers in the state government.
