The Supreme Court Collegium has approved a series of judicial appointments to several high courts across the country, including the elevation of three judicial officers as judges of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
According to resolutions issued by the collegium, the decision was taken during a meeting held on June 2 under the leadership of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The collegium approved the names of Chirag Bhanu Singh, Bhupesh Sharma and Yogesh Jaswal for appointment as judges of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The recommendations are aimed at strengthening the functioning of the high court by filling existing vacancies and enhancing judicial capacity. Once formally notified by the Centre, the three judicial officers will assume office as judges of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

In another significant decision, the collegium approved the proposal to appoint additional judges Justice Harmeet Singh Grewal and Justice Deepinder Singh Nalwa as permanent judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The move is expected to provide greater stability to the court's judicial administration and help address the workload arising from a large number of pending cases.
The collegium also cleared the elevation of six advocates as judges of the Karnataka High Court. The advocates recommended for appointment are Raghavendra Seetharam Srivatsa, Hema Kulkarni, Subramanya Rangarao, Thadagavadi Prakash Vivekananda, Bakkeswara Pramod and Hombe Gowda Shanthi Bhushan. Their appointments are expected to strengthen the court's judicial strength and improve case disposal rates.
In a separate resolution, the collegium approved the appointment of advocate Amit Lahoti as a judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Lahoti's name was recommended after due consideration of his professional standing and suitability for elevation to the Bench.
The latest recommendations are part of the collegium's ongoing efforts to fill vacancies in high courts across the country and ensure the efficient administration of justice. The appointments will take effect after receiving the necessary approval and notification from the Central government.
