Making a boost to local tourism, Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district will soon introduce water sports and new attractions at Govind Sagar Lake and Kol Dam, inspired by the success of Kerala and Goa, officials said on Sunday.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will inaugurate cruises and shikaras on the Govind Sagar Lake after September 15.
"Cruises and shikaras will reach here in the next ten to fifteen days. So far, jet skis, high-tech motorboats, and rescue boats have reached Bilaspur," Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq said.
With this, the district of Bilaspur is set to become a major tourist hub, with plans to develop its attractions along the lines of Kerala and Goa.
According to Deputy Commissioner Sadiq, the area surrounding Govind Sagar Lake and Kol Dam will be transformed into a thriving tourist destination, making Bilaspur the first district in the state to offer such attractions. The tourism department has officially approved water sports activities at Govind Sagar Lake, enabling year-round tourist activities.
Furthermore, the Mandi-Bharari area, located along the Kiratpur-Nerchowk four-lane, will be developed to feature exciting attractions such as ziplining and a skywalk bridge.
