The Himachal Pradesh Secretariat was placed on high alert once again on Sunday after receiving a fresh bomb threat via email, directed at the Chief Secretary’s Office. Although the Secretariat was closed for the Sunday holiday with no staff present, authorities responded swiftly, deploying a heavy police presence around the premises.
The bomb disposal and dog squads were immediately called in and are currently conducting thorough search operations to ensure the area is secure. The administration has taken the threat seriously, enforcing strict surveillance across the Secretariat and launching investigations to trace the source of the threatening email.
This is not the first time the State Secretariat has been targeted. A similar threat was received in April 2025, which also led to a full-scale security sweep. While no explosives were found then, the renewed threat has intensified pressure on state security agencies.
Moreover, bomb threats have recently been reported at Deputy Commissioner offices in Hamirpur, Mandi, Chamba, and Kullu districts, delivered via emails or anonymous letters. So far, none of these threats have resulted in the discovery of any explosive devices.
In response to the escalating threats, the Himachal Pradesh administration has strengthened security protocols at all key government buildings. Officials have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and expressed confidence in soon identifying those responsible for the series of hoax threats, which have strained resources and heightened public anxiety.
