In response to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Himachal Pradesh has heightened security in districts bordering Punjab, including Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, and Chamba, police officials said on Thursday.
Security has been tightened at all entry points along the Punjab-Himachal border, with vehicle entering the state being checked as a precautionary measure. Surveillance teams have been deployed to monitor suspicious activity, according to Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal.
Special attention is being given to prominent religious sites in the region, including the Baba Balak Nath temple in Hamirpur, Maa Chintpurni in Una, and Maa Naina Devi in Bilaspur. Police patrolling has been intensified at these locations and surrounding areas, while devotees have been advised to stay alert.
The move follows directives issued by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who on Wednesday instructed deputy commissioners and district police chiefs across the state to remain vigilant and proactive in maintaining law and order.
