The state government has been actively pursuing large-scale projects in roads, railways, healthcare, education and energy sectors, alongside initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and ease of doing business to attract private investment.

Officials indicated that financial assistance, ongoing development projects and future investment opportunities also formed part of the deliberations between the two leaders.

The meeting comes at a time when Assam is positioning itself as an emerging economic hub in the Northeast, with a focus on sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing, green energy, tourism and industrial infrastructure.

Over the past few years, the state has witnessed increased central support for major infrastructure development projects, which the government says has helped strengthen connectivity and boost economic activity.

Sarma emphasised that continued cooperation with the Centre would be crucial for sustaining Assam’s growth trajectory and achieving long-term development goals.
