Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday attended the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation at Mukhya Sevak Sadan in Dehradun. During the programme, he inaugurated a new mobile application aimed at improving digital governance and modern management in the forestry sector.

At the event, Dhami launched the “Himcast” mobile application and described it as an important initiative to modernise the sale and distribution system of forest produce managed by the corporation.

CM Dhami said the application will simplify timber trading and allow stakeholders to purchase forest products online, making the process easier and more accessible.

“On this historic occasion, we have also launched a mobile application called Himcast. Through this application, timber can be sold from the Forest Development Corporation. It will also enable online purchase of forest goods. I am confident that this initiative will prove to be an important step towards transparency and convenience. This will make the corporation's sales process more transparent, more effective, and more reliable... Today, under the guidance of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, we are committed to establishing a balance between ecology, economy, and technology in the state,” CM Dhami said.

Meanwhile, on Monday, CM Dhami met Jayant Singh, Chairman of the Land Ports Authority of India, at Uttarakhand Niwas in New Delhi to review ongoing infrastructure developments.

During the meeting, he reviewed the progress of the under-construction modern land port project at Banbasa (Gudmi) in Champawat district, located along the India–Nepal border, according to an official release.

The project is being considered a major step towards increasing international connectivity, as it will be linked with the Asian Highway network.

The Chief Minister also discussed plans to improve border trade, transportation facilities and infrastructure development in Dharchula and Jhulaghat areas of Pithoragarh district, which are located along the India–Nepal border.

He emphasised that development projects should move forward while keeping local needs and public interest as top priorities. He said such initiatives would promote local products, strengthen the regional economy, improve market access for border-area goods and generate employment opportunities at the grassroots level.
