Panic spread across Kanpur's Chakeri airport on Friday after officials received a bomb threat call from an unidentified youth. The caller claimed that a bomb had been planted, prompting immediate action from airport authorities.
Security personnel swiftly began a thorough search of the entire airport premises to ensure the safety of passengers and staff.
Following a detailed investigation, it was confirmed that the threat was a hoax. The airport authorities promptly alerted the police, providing details about the caller. The claim mentioned a bomb on a 72-seater aircraft, but officials clarified that no such aircraft operates or lands at Kanpur airport.
Acting on the information, police tracked the suspect’s mobile phone location and arrested him from the Yashodanagar area. A case has been officially registered against the individual at Chakeri police station.
This incident comes just weeks after another bomb scare involving a Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight from Jaipur, which carried 225 passengers and crew.
That flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai after a threatening note was found onboard.
