Hooda hits out at Haryana govt for ignoring farmers

Targeting the ruling party, Hooda said the BJP must address its own factionalism before criticising the Congress. He stressed the need to strengthen the Congress organisation, stating that district-level pradhans have already been appointed and block-level appointments will follow soon.

Former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda sharply criticised the Haryana government on Wednesday, saying it had not taken a single decision in the public interest. Speaking to reporters, Hooda highlighted the government’s failures on farmers’ issues, law and order, while also outlining plans to strengthen the Congress organisation in the state.

Hooda described the current BJP-led government as a complete failure. He said it had not taken any concrete steps for farmers or the welfare of the poor. Law and order remained “completely poor,” with development work stalled across the state, he added.

He further said he had been regularly visiting state mandis, where farmers’ grain was spoiling due to lack of proper storage facilities. “There aren’t even tarpaulins in the mandis, causing huge losses to farmers,” he said. He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi provide compensation and a special package for the farmers’ losses.

Targeting the ruling party, Hooda said the BJP must address its own factionalism before criticising the Congress. He stressed the need to strengthen the Congress organisation, stating that district-level pradhans have already been appointed and block-level appointments will follow soon.

Commenting on Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s visit to Japan, Hooda said Haryana had attracted the highest investments during his tenure as CM (until 2014). “The BJP has ruined investment and development in the state,” he added.

Hooda also criticised the INLD-JJP, claiming they cannot even save their deposits and continue to speak against the Congress at the behest of the BJP.

On the upcoming visit of PM Modi to Haryana on October 17, Hooda said the Central government had not provided any major projects for the state.

“Haryana has not received metro, rail, or other significant projects under the BJP government,” he noted.

Hooda said district, block, division, and booth level presidents will soon be appointed to strengthen the Congress organisation.

Summing up the government’s performance, Hooda said marks should be given based on performance. “This government has not done any work in many areas such as farmers, women, employment, and security,” he said, giving it a zero rating.

Hooda concluded by reaffirming that Congress’s priority remains protecting the interests of farmers, the poor, and the people of Haryana.
