Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda termed the BJP government in Haryana a complete failure. He said that law and order in the state has collapsed and people feel insecure.
Speaking to reporters, he said that only those are safe whom no one wants to kill. He added that these are not just allegations made by the Opposition; even reports of the central government indicate that Haryana is among the most unsafe states in the country.
Hooda said he would introduce a special resolution on law and order in the upcoming Assembly session, raise the issue strongly, and demand answers from the government. He claimed that cases of organised crime are continuously surfacing in the state. “More than 80–90 gangs are active in the state. These gangs commit crimes and then openly claim responsibility. It is imperative to eliminate them,” he said.
Referring to the case of the Guhla Cheeka MLA, he alleged that the government has no control over law and order. “When an MLA highlighted the government’s failures by showing a rattle to an officer, an FIR was filed against him. Malicious action against MLAs will not be tolerated,” he said. He said that the recent murder in Rohtak, which took place near the IG’s office, demonstrates the government’s failure. “Today, money is being extorted from businessmen to doctors in the state. Industries are fleeing, and investment is declining. Improving law and order and instilling public confidence are essential for progress. However, under BJP rule, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people because the government is weak,” he said.
“The situation was similar before 2005. Crime was being operated from jails, but the Congress government brought it under control and made Haryana crime-free,” he added. Hooda also termed the trade deal with the United States as anti-farmer. He said that if animal feed is imported from America and livestock are fed with it, our farmers will suffer. “The United States has imposed an 18% tariff on India, while it has imposed zero tariff on Bangladesh. This deal will significantly impact cotton farmers and others,” he said.

The Leader of the Opposition stated that farmers are being discriminated against under the present government. “The weight of fertilizer bags has been reduced from 50 kg to 40 kg, but the price remains the same. The claim of providing MSP for 24 crops is false, as Haryana does not grow that many crops. More than Rs 2,000 crore in profits were generated under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, but farmers are not receiving claims and are withdrawing from the scheme. Not even 10% compensation has been provided so far,” he said.
Regarding pension cuts to the elderly, Hooda said the government is now claiming to restore 70,000 pensions. “If they hadn't been cut, why are they being restored? Along with pensions, ration cards issued before the elections are now being cancelled, which in itself constitutes vote theft. In Ambala alone, 54,000 ration cards were cancelled,” he alleged.
MLAs Bharat Bhushan Batra and Shakuntala Khatak, former minister Subhash Batra, and former MLA Sant Kumar were also present at the press conference.
