In a tragic incident, five members of a family lost their lives when the roof of their house collapsed while they were asleep, police reported on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 4:30 am, in Pandori Gola village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. According to officials, the house was in a dilapidated condition, and heavy waste materials stored on the roof contributed to the collapse.
Neighbours rushed to the scene and managed to pull the victims from the debris. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
The deceased have been identified as Gobinda (40), his wife Amarjit Kaur (36), and their three children—Gurbaj Singh (14), Gurlaal (17), and their daughter Ekam (15). Their bodies have been sent for a postmortem examination, police confirmed.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and local officials have urged residents in structurally weak houses to take necessary precautions to prevent similar tragedies.
