Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the state government has allocated Rs 85 crore to purchase 3-Tesla MRI machines.

These machines will be installed at IGMC Shimla, Tanda Medical College, and Nerchowk Medical College. The 3-Tesla MRI machine is an advanced diagnostic tool, especially useful for cases requiring detailed and accurate analysis.

The Chief Minister said these machines will help doctors diagnose diseases more precisely, leading to better treatment for patients.

He also mentioned that the state government plans to invest Rs 1,500 crore to improve healthcare facilities by equipping them with modern equipment. Currently, many residents of Himachal Pradesh seek treatment outside the state, causing a loss of Rs 1,350 crore in GDP.

The government is focusing on providing advanced medical equipment at all levels of healthcare. Community Health Centers (CHCs) will receive semi-automatic labs, ultrasound machines, and ICU facilities.

Additionally, civil and zonal hospitals will soon be equipped with fully automatic auto-analyzers, digital X-rays, ultrasound machines, and modular operation theaters. The health department has already started this work, and in-house labs will help provide better treatment and more accurate diagnostic support.

The Chief Minister criticised the previous BJP government for neglecting healthcare services, which led to the decline of the health system and made government hospitals act as referral centers.

He said the Congress government is committed to improving healthcare, and people will soon see positive changes.
