Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Dr (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, who presided over a special meeting of the High Power Purchase Committee in Shimla today, emphasised that the committee must ensure transparency in the purchase of world-class healthcare machinery and medical equipment to ensure that people of the state receive best healthcare services.
Dr. Shandil stated that the government is working tirelessly to provide quality health infrastructure and services through Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans, which have already been set up in around 50 assembly constituencies. Each of these institutions is equipped with six specialist doctors. He added that similar Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans would be established in all assembly constituencies in a phased manner.
He further noted that the procurement of modern medical equipment is underway to strengthen healthcare institutions across Himachal Pradesh. “Once equipped with the latest and adequate machinery, these institutions will be capable of providing quality treatment to the people at their doorsteps,” he said.
The committee gave approval for purchase of five Phaco Machines estimated to cost around 30 lakh. It also approved amendments to expedite the process to procure Digital Radiography Machine, High-Resolution Colour Doppler Ultrasound and Digital Mammography Machine for Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba. It also gave approval to the recommendations of the Technical Sub-Committee for purchase of various machinery/equipment for Adarsh Swasthya Sansthan.
Secretary Health M. Sudha Devi, Chief Minister’s Advisor (Infrastructure) Anil Kapil, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
