The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation ( HPTDC) has added five battery operated electric vehicles for use in its units, including The Chail Palace, Tea Bud Palampur, Devdar Khajjiar, and New Ros Common Kasauli, to facilitate the guests/ visitors.
The six seater vehicles can run with a maximum speed of 25 kms for approximately 60 kms on a single charge.
"These battery-operated vehicles will not only facilitate the tourists' easy movement within the unit but will also be a boon for the elderly senior citizens visiting HPTDC properties. It is a step towards pollution-free transport and implementing the electric vehicle transition in the state," said Managing Director, HPTDC, Rajiv Kumar.
He said the new initiative costs Rs 50 lakh. The inauguration will be done by the Chairman of HPTDC, RS Bali, shortly.
