Tourists can now avail integrated packages combining rail travel with accommodation in Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) hotels and other hospitality services, ensuring ease of planning, cost-effectiveness and enhanced convenience.
The HPTDC and IRCTC entered into a collaboration aimed at facilitating seamless and comfortable travel experiences for tourists by signing an MoU in Shimla on Tuesday, paving the way for the early rollout of these customised travel packages for the benefit of tourists nationwide.
Under this strategic initiative, both organisations will offer customised travel packages that will comprehensively cover transportation, boarding and lodging facilities, enabling travellers to move conveniently from one destination to another.
The MoU was formally signed in the presence of Harjot Singh Sandhu, IRTS Chief Regional Manager, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation, Regional Office, Chandigarh and Rajeev Kumar, Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, and other officials from the two organisations.
“We have taken this initiative on the directions of Chairman, HPTDC in order to increase the revenue of the Corporation. The initiative is expected to significantly improve last-mile connectivity and provide tourists with reliable and standardised services throughout their journey,” said Rajeev Kumar, MD, HPTDC.
This tie-up will also enable HPTDC to effectively compete with private players in the tourism and hospitality sector by leveraging the extensive network and outreach of Indian Railways.
