FIR has been filed by Haryana police on Saturday, against a man and his parents for allegedly throwing his wife out of the house over dowry demands and unlawfully divorcing her by pronouncing triple talaq. The case was reported in Haryana's Nuh district.
The FIR comprises eight names - the victim's husband, his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law. The charges include dowry harassment, domestic abuse, and sexual assault, based on a complaint made by the 23-year-old woman.
The woman, who hails from Papda village, recently gave birth to a baby girl. She has requested the police to recover her dowry items and take strict action to ensure her safety and dignity.
The woman was married to Shahrukh, a resident of Aterna Shamsabad village, in May last year. In her complaint, she claims that her father provided dowry items worth ₹20 lakh, which included a tractor, motorcycle, jewellery, household goods, and ₹1.11 lakh in cash.
However, her in-laws were dissatisfied and began harassing her soon after the marriage, demanding an additional ₹5 lakh and a luxury car.
The woman alleges that the abuse escalated over time, following which she was thrown out and the unlawful pronouncement of triple talaq by her husband.
According to the FIR, the woman also claimed that her father-in-law and one of her brothers-in-law tried to sexually assault her on multiple occasions, with her husband allegedly siding with his family, and verbally abusing her.
The woman claimed that she was allegedly beaten, robbed of her jewellery and 'Mahr', and evicted from her home, the FIR further states.
The complainant sought help from her family, who attempted to mediate the situation through a local village panchayat. However, her in-laws allegedly insulted the mediators and refused to accept her back.
