The ABVP has called for a bandh and hence all the schools in Hyderabad will remain shut.

Schools across Hyderabad sent out holiday notices to parents via WhatsApp messages stating that Wednesday is a non-working day.

The bandh has been called in protest against the government’s failure to check the spike in fees by private schools, demanding providing basic facilities in government schools and also filling up the DEO and MEO posts.

ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) Telangana state leader G Jeevan demanded that the government should take strict action against the management of corporate, private, and international schools for charging lakhs of rupees as fee from parents.

The ABVP also demanded implementation of the Fee Regulation Act, strict action against managements of private schools selling books and uniforms in violation of the rules, and scrapping the registration of private schools failing to follow the rules.

Speaking to reporters, he demanded that more than 24,000 teacher posts lying vacant in the state should be filled by conducting Mega DSC. Appointment of attenders and scavengers in schools has also been demanded.

He demanded that the government should ensure that every school should allocate 25 per cent of seats to poor students, as per the Right to Education Act (RTE).
