The Indian Air Force (IAF) has continued its humanitarian relief operations in the landslide-affected and partially cut-off Sarhi village of Reasi district.
The Army has airdropped 9,400 kg of essential ration supplies to the affected village. Earlier, around 25 quintals of rations were airlifted. Today, an additional 69 quintals were airdropped to ensure uninterrupted food supplies for the residents.
The relief operation is being carried out under the overall supervision of Reasi Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik.
The Sarhi area, which lies in Bhomag Tehsil, remains isolated due to multiple landslides on the Reasi–Sarhi (via Tote) road while the alternative Udhampur–Sarhi (via Moungri) route is also blocked after the Thathi Bridge was washed away.
The Deputy Commissioner said, “Despite the challenging terrain and adverse weather, we are ensuring timely ration supply to Sarhi. Today, 69 quintals were successfully airdropped, and operations will continue further, subject to weather conditions.”
The district administration reiterated that all possible help, including emergency medical services, will continue to be provided to remote and inaccessible areas affected by the recent flash floods and landslides triggered by persistent heavy rainfall in the region.
Since August 14, over 130 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.
