Impressive performance of J&K candidates in UPSC exams,17 qualify

Suvon Sharma topped the Union Territory with an All India Rank of 148, followed by Saugandha Gupta (207), Tauseef Ahmad Ganie (245), and Ritika Bhan (456).Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have congratulated the successful candidates. Jammu and Kashmir has saw  an impressive performance, with 17 candidates qualifying in the 2025 UPSC examination. Suvon Sharma topped the Union Territory with an All India Rank of 148, followed by Saugandha Gupta (207), Tauseef Ahmad Ganie (245), and Ritika Bhan (456).

 

 

Those from J&K, who have qualified the top most competitive examination in the country, include Suvan Sharma (AIR-148), Suganda Gupta (AIR-207), Towseef Ahmad Ganie (AIR-254), Ritika Bhan (AIR-456), Sooyash Raj Shivam (AIR-572), Muneeb Afzal Parrah (AIR-581), Ghulam Maya Din (683), Dwarka Gaadhi (721), Akash Jaggi (747), Koh-e-Safa (763), Yassar Ahmad Bhatti (811), Abhishek Kumar Dhyawna (820), Pankaj Kumar (856), Mohd Ajaz Ul-Rehman (869), Azhar Asif Khan (886), Mohd Sarfraz Choudhary (936) and Irfan Ahmad Lone (957). Among those who have qualified the prestigious Civil Services Examination 2025 from UT is one visually impaired , other a son of a labourer who have recorded success with flying colours.

 

 

Irfan Ahmad Lone of Manzpora in Naidkhai area of Bandipora, who secured place in the final list of successful candidates announced by the UPSC, is visually impaired since birth. His success has drawn appreciation from people in the area, who described the achievement as a source of inspiration for many young aspirants.Locals said Lone pursued his studies despite challenges associated with visual impairment and continued his preparation for the civil services examination.

 

 

Another successful candidate, Towseef Ahmad Ganie from Puchal village in Pulwama, is son of a labourer. He overcame numerous hardships and financial struggles to reach this milestone. Despite limited resources, his determination, hard work and dedication towards studies helped him achieve one of the most difficult goals in the country.

 

Meanwhile, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have congratulated the successful candidates. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also conveyed congratulations to candidates I J&K who have qualified the prestigious exam.Anuj Agnihotri, an MBBS graduate, has topped the Civil Services Examination, while Rajeshwari Suve M and Akansh Dhull have got the second and third ranks respectively. Among the finally qualified candidates, top five comprises one woman and four men candidates. The top 25 candidates comprise 11 women and 14 men.

 

A total of 958 candidates — 659 men and 299 women — have qualified the examination and are recommended for appointment to different central civil services, the Public Service Commission said, adding that the candidature of 348 recommended candidates has been kept provisional.

 

A notable highlight of this year’s results is the improvement in the performance of Muslim candidates. Out of the 958 successful candidates, around 53 are Muslims, which is significantly higher than 2024, when only 26 Muslim candidates cleared the exam
