From now on the procurement of all crops in Haryana will be at minimum support price, announced state Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini here on Sunday. He then also waived Rs 133 crore in outstanding canal water irrigation charges, marking a major boost for the state's farmers.
The CM was speaking at BJP's 'Vijay Shankhnad' rally, where Saini highlighted the government's commitment to farmers' welfare. The announcement comes as the BJP launched its assembly election campaign in the state.
"I am happy to state that in the last 10 years, the state government purchased 14 crops at MSP. Today, nine more crops are pending. All crops in Haryana will now be bought at MSP by our government. I announce this today," said Saini.
In a bid to regain lost ground after the Lok Sabha election setback, Saini unveiled a series of measures to benefit farmers and citizens, including - procurement of all crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), waiver of Rs 133 crore in outstanding canal water irrigation charges, payment of pending compensation of Rs 137 crore to farmers affected by natural calamities, relaxation of rules for purchasing three-star motors for new tubewell connections, and free replacement of damaged transformers for farmers.
Addressing the 'Vijay Shankhnad' rally, Saini highlighted the government's achievements and attacked the opposition for their alleged misrule.
The rally was attended by top BJP leaders, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who praised Haryana's growth and the government's efforts to curb corruption.
Saini also urged BJP workers to reach out to every household to explain the government's policies and achievements, aiming for a third consecutive term in office.
The announcements come as the BJP seeks to regain momentum after a dip in vote share from 58% to 46% in the recent Lok Sabha elections, while the Congress made gains with a vote share increase from 28% to 43%.
