Indian Navy connects with youth on Northeast bike tour

Indian Navy personnel embark on a 2,500-kilometre motorcycle expedition across the Northeast, aiming to promote maritime careers, engage with local communities, and showcase Nari Shakti through the participation of women officers.

The Indian Navy has launched a motorcycle expedition across the Northeastern states to raise maritime awareness and engage with local communities. The 16-day expedition, which began on October 14, will cover approximately 2,500 kilometres through Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh before concluding on October 30.

A team of 40 naval personnel, including officers, sailors, and their families, are participating in the journey, showcasing career opportunities in the Navy, including the Agnipath Scheme.

The expedition also aims to promote Nari Shakti by featuring women officers and the spouses of naval personnel.

“This expedition is a means to foster deeper connections with the local youth and civil society, highlighting the diverse careers available in the Indian Navy,” an official Navy statement said.

Throughout the journey, the riders will meet naval veterans and veer naris (war widows) to express the Navy's solidarity and gratitude.

The Indian Navy has conducted similar motorcycle expeditions in the Northeast in 2022 and in Leh and Ladakh in 2023.

The Navy expressed its gratitude to TVS Motor Company for providing vehicle support for the event, which seeks to inspire the younger generation to consider a future in the maritime service.
