An Indian official serving at the High Commission in Chattogram, Bangladesh, was found dead inside his workplace, officials said. The incident has raised concern, and authorities are looking into the circumstances.
Initial inquiry suggests that the death may have been due to a cardiac arrest. However, officials said the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
The body of Naren Dhar, a protocol officer, was found from the Indian Assistant High Commission in Chittagong on Tuesday morning. It was later sent to Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Assistant Commissioner of City Police Aminur Rashid said Dhar was working as a protocol officer at the mission. Police reached the spot after being informed and recovered the body around 9:30 am before sending it to the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Rashid added that Naren Dhar was in his late 30s. His body was recovered in the bathroom early in the morning on the second floor of the old visa centre building of the diplomatic mission.
No official statement has yet been issued by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka or the Assistant High Commission in Chattogram regarding the incident.
