Next time you see a beggar, think carefully before giving money, as it could lead to legal issues. However, if you report a beggar with verified information, you will be rewarded with Rs 1,000.

The local government has started strict actions to stop begging in the city. A new order issued by Collector Asheesh Singh on Friday completely bans begging in the district. To support this campaign, people who provide verified details about beggars will receive a Rs 1,000 reward.

The order, under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Act, 2023, bans all forms of begging and stops citizens from giving money or buying goods from beggars. Anyone who violates this, including those who give money or buy from beggars, will face legal action. The ban is in effect immediately.

People can report begging incidents by contacting Dinesh Mishra, project officer at the Women and Child Development Department, at 9691494951.

The decision to curb begging is based on several factors. Begging at traffic signals and public places raises the risk of accidents and is often linked to illegal activities.

Many beggars may be involved in drug use or other harmful activities, creating a nuisance at intersections, religious sites, and tourist locations.
