A 29-year-old man and his wife from Indore have gone missing while touring Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district, said police on Monday. The couple, identified as Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam, were last seen in the scenic Sohra region (formerly Cherrapunji) before all communication with them was lost.
According to police officials, the couple had hired a two-wheeler to explore the popular tourist destination. Concern arose when their mobile phones were found switched off since Sunday night, prompting Raja’s brother, Govind, to file a missing report.
“They were last seen in the Sohra area. Their hired two-wheeler was later recovered about 15 km away from Sohra town,” a senior officer said.
Efforts are currently underway to trace the couple. Police teams are conducting searches across the region and checking records from local hotels, homestays and vehicle rental agencies for any information that could lead to their whereabouts.
