Intense cold conditions prevailed across various parts of Haryana and Punjab on Monday, with Narnaul shivering at 3 degrees Celsius. Narnaul in Haryana remained the coldest place in the state.
In Punjab, Bathinda and Faridkot also experienced intense cold, with both towns recording a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius.
As per the India Meteorological Department, Amritsar recorded a low of 10.2 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 8 degrees, Patiala 7 degrees, while Gurdaspur saw a minimum of 7.8 degrees Celsius.
In Haryana, Hisar also reeled under severe cold, recording a minimum temperature of 3.6 degrees Celsius.
Ambala recorded a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius, Rohtak 7.6 degrees, Bhiwani 4.8 degrees, while Karnal recorded a minimum of 7.2 degrees Celsius.
The IMD said Chandigarh, the common capital of Haryana and Punjab, recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday, severe cold conditions prevailed in Chandigarh during the day as well, with the maximum temperature settling at 12 degrees Celsius, about six degrees below normal.
Over the past few days, several places in Haryana and Punjab have witnessed a sharp drop in maximum temperatures, further intensifying the cold wave conditions.
