Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh has reported significant progress under the ongoing 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0. Intensive outreach and screening activities are being conducted across high-risk villages and urban wards as part of the campaign.

Reviewing the first 50 days of the campaign, Chief Medical Officer, Kangra, Dr Vivek Karol informed that 126 Ayushman Arogya Shivirs have been organised across the district, covering 126 high-risk villages/wards out of the targeted 956 vulnerable locations. The shivirs are held daily, including holidays and Sundays, and offer non-communicable disease screening in addition to chest X-rays.

He added that as part of active TB case finding and early diagnosis efforts, a total of 7,475 chest X-rays were conducted during the shivirs, while an additional 10,587 chest X-rays were performed at fixed health facilities through fixed X-ray machines. The campaign aims to reach a vulnerable population of 5.88 lakh people across Kangra district.

The initiative has witnessed encouraging community participation, with women accounting for nearly 60 per cent of beneficiaries screened, while 40 per cent were men.

Among the health blocks, Dadasiba recorded the highest number of shivirs conducted, followed by Indora and Fatehpur. The district average footfall remained around 62 beneficiaries per shivir, reflecting growing awareness and utilisation of screening services.

District Health Officer-cum-TB Officer Dr. R.K. Sood stated that the campaign is focused on early detection of TB, especially among asymptomatic and vulnerable populations, through comprehensive screening using chest X-rays followed by upfront NAAT testing.

The district administration and health department appreciated the dedicated efforts of frontline workers, TB health visitors, field staff, radiographers, and community volunteers who are ensuring the success of the campaign even in difficult and remote areas.

Officials reiterated that sustained community participation, Jan Bhagidari, and early screening remain crucial for achieving the goal of a TB-Mukt Bharat.
