Himachal Pradesh government today appointed Dr Atul Verma, Director General, CID, Himachal Pradesh, as Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh.
An IPS officer of Himachal Cadre (1991), Dr Atul Verma has been appointed DGP after superannuation of IPS Sanjay Kundu on 30 April 2024.
Himachal Pradesh government issued the notification regarding Dr Verma's appointment as DGP on Wednesday, with immediate effect from May 1.
The Himachal government shortlisted three senior-most IPS officers for the post - Sanjiv Ranjan Oja (IPS: 1989), Shyam Bhagat Negi (IPS: 1990), and Dr Atul Verma (IPS:1991).
The previous month, the 1991 batch IPS officer was appointed to the post of director general of CID of Himachal Pradesh.
