The headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, received a hoax bomb threat call on Thursday, prompting an immediate security response from the police, officials said.

According to the police, the threat call was received at the ISRO headquarters, located within the jurisdiction of the Sanjay Nagar Police Station in north Bengaluru. Following the alert, police personnel, including members of the bomb detection and disposal squad, rushed to the premises and carried out a comprehensive search operation to ensure the safety of employees and the facility. North Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Babasab Nemagouda confirmed that no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the extensive inspection.

"Around the afternoon, the ISRO headquarters in the Sanjay Nagar police station limits received a bomb threat call. Our officials immediately rushed to the ISRO campus and conducted a thorough search of the premises. Nothing suspicious was found. He noted that several institutions had recently received similar hoax threats, requiring law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant.

"There have been hoax calls at many different places. Our government is closely monitoring all such incidents. Recently, even in Yadgir, an email containing a similar threat was received. Today, there are several hoax calls, and such incidents keep happening. However, we remain on constant vigil and will ensure that nothing untoward takes place," Kharge said.

The minister reiterated that the state police and security agencies respond promptly to every threat, irrespective of whether it ultimately proves to be genuine or false, in order to rule out any risk to public safety and critical infrastructure.

Police officials said further investigation into the hoax bomb threat is underway. A formal complaint from ISRO authorities is being processed, and efforts are continuing to identify the caller and determine the motive behind the false alarm. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
