J&K admn gears up for Budha Amarnath Pilgrimage in Poonch

The Budha Amarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, an ancient shrine located in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is believed to be older than the famous Amarnath cave shrine in Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir administration is gearing up for the Budha Amarnath Pilgrimage in Poonch district, with senior officials reviewing arrangements for the upcoming 13-day festival.

 

Deputy Inspector General of Police Tejinder Singh reviewed security in Poonch and highlighted the necessity of ensuring the safety of pilgrims.
An official spokesperson said, “The first batch will depart from the Bhagwati Nagar basecamp in Jammu on July 28, moving towards the Mandi tehsil in Poonch in a regulated convoy amid full security arrangements.”

 

Similarly, Jammu divisional commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of police (IGP) Bhim Sen Tuti also reviewed the arrangements.
Kumar directed officials to establish a helpdesk and registration counter at Bhagwati Nagar and Jammu and Jammu Railway Station to facilitate the devotees.

 

Also, the senior administrative officials, including the deputy commissioners of Rajouri and Poonch, were instructed to ensure adequate accommodation with essential facilities, including power supply, drinking water, langars, parking, waterproof tents, and mobile toilets along the route, the spokesperson added.
