Security forces on Thursday recovered arms and ammunition from a government-run school in the Awantipora area of the Pulwama district in South Kashmir, officials said.
An official said that in a joint operation, the Army’s 42 RR and 130 Battalion of CRPF recovered arms and ammunition from the government primary school in Larmooh.
He said that the arms and ammunition included a grenade, UGBL, electric detonator, non-electric detonator, 10 bullets, and a pistol magazine.
A case regarding the same has been initiated and further investigation is going on,” he said.
Earlier on January 10, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the forest area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Security forces launched a search operation in the Tee Pee forest in the Kralapora area of the north Kashmir district, based on a specific input, the officials said.
During the search operation that lasted for three days, security forces seized a cache of arms of ammunition from a hideout; the said recovery included a pistol, a pistol magazine, eight rounds, five grenades, and 270 rounds of AK-47, officials said.
Furthermore, in the past few years, security forces have intensified their counter-insurgency operations across Jammu and Kashmir to dismantle the terror ecosystem.
Subsequent pre-emptive actions in UT, particularly in Kashmir, have yielded some positive results, with the number of local recruits joining the militant ranks dropping to single digits in most places while others reported zero number of local militants active in the Valley,” said a high-ranking police official in the recent press briefing in Srinagar.
