Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, said on Saturday that Jammu and Kashmir is not a "typical state" and that the "system here cannot function effectively" under dual control, where the elected chief minister "focuses on one area", while the Lieutenant Governor "manages the region’s security".
“J&K is not like other states. We have made commitments to the people, and we will fulfil them,” he said.
Wani added that the central government should restore statehood in a time-bound manner.
He reminded people that the government in J&K was formed a week ago and urged them to show patience and trust in the elected leadership they recently chose in the assembly elections.
Wani assured that issues relating to the people of Jammu and Kashmir would be addressed, emphasising that the government is committed to restoring the dignity and respect of the people.
Regarding the Chief Minister’s meetings with the Home Minister, Defence Minister, and Prime Minister, he stated that these discussions aimed to resolve issues impacting common people, and they assured support for J&K’s progress.
When asked about the Darbar move, Wani mentioned that CM Omar Abdullah had already ordered its restoration, making protests unnecessary.
Furthermore, Wani said the people mandated the National Conference, and the party is committed to resolving public concerns, as J&K has been without elected representation for the last decade.
