Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness dry weather until February 25, even as Leh in Ladakh celebrates the Dosmochey spring festival, marking the end of winter with traditional Cham dances and festivities.

According to the local Meteorological Department, Jammu and Kashmir is expected to experience mostly dry weather with no significant snowfall or rainfall until February 25. Night temperatures across the Union Territory have shown significant improvement, weeks after fresh snowfall in the upper reaches.

The plains are likely to remain generally dry from February 17, though cloudy night skies and the possibility of light snowfall at isolated higher reaches cannot be ruled out on select days. Dry conditions have been forecast from February 18 to 24, followed by a brief spell of rain and snowfall on February 28. From February 18 to 21, the weather is expected to stay mostly dry, with cloudy skies likely from February 22 to 24.

For March 1, the MeT department has forecast generally cloudy weather with chances of light snowfall at isolated higher slopes in the region. Farmers in the Union Territory have been advised to continue their agricultural activities, as conditions are expected to remain favourable during the next week.

The department has also issued advisories to locals living in mountainous, remote and avalanche-prone areas to avoid venturing onto slopes.
The Traffic Department has advised travellers to check with local authorities before planning a journey on the Srinagar–Jammu national highway in case of changes in weather patterns or the occurrence of rain and snowfall.

While the weather is expected to remain largely dry over the next two weeks, the MeT cautioned that the possibility of rain and snowfall cannot be entirely ruled out.
