The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday announced that jobs will be offered to outstanding sportspersons in Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, said the downtown area, especially the Khanyar constituency, will be provided with adequate sports infrastructure.
“The government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has been putting in efforts to provide better sports infrastructure to the youth in the UT, for those who want to play and prosper in the respective sports,” he said.
The minister also stated that the government has allocated Rs 1 crore to upgrade the sports ground here to improve the existing infrastructure. He reiterated that the government will provide jobs to outstanding sportspersons in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier on Sunday, Sharma laid the foundation stone for the upgrade of the playfield at Chankhan, Sopore, to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote youth engagement across North Kashmir.
MLA Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar, along with senior officers of the J&K Sports Council, district officials, and representatives from local sports associations, was also present on the occasion.
While responding to the demands of sportspersons and local youth, the minister said the government is determined to provide all support and assistance to sportspersons, adding that rules have been notified under which a government job will be provided to outstanding sportspersons.
