The Jammu and Kashmir MeT Department on Tuesday issued a weather alert for July 22 to 25, following an intense weather movement developing over the region.
The office in advisory stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at scattered places in the Jammu Division within the next 72 hours.
A senior MeT official said between July 22 and 23, there will be intermittent spells of light to moderate rain, along with thundershowers and gusty winds at many places.
This will be followed by intense showers and heavy to very heavy rain at isolated to scattered locations in the Jammu Division.
Meanwhile, for July 24, the weather is generally expected to remain cloudy, though there could be intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places. Intense showers and heavy rain are also likely at isolated locations across both Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, the official said, from July 25 to 27 weather shall remain dry with hot and humid conditions, and there is a possibility of brief rain showers expected at a few places.
From July 28 to 30, fresh spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at many locations.
The department has issued an advisory for the general public, warning of the possibility of flashfloods at some vulnerable locations, along with landslides, mudslides, shooting stones, a rise in water levels in water bodies, and waterlogging in some low-lying areas.
“Farmers are advised to suspend farm operations from July 22 to 24,” he added.
