A militant hideout was uncovered in a remote forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, leading to the recovery of a pistol and ammunition, according to officials.
The hideout was discovered during a joint search operation conducted by Jammu and Kashmir’s Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Army in the Bhalra forest area of Bhaderwah on Saturday, an official said.
The recovered items include a pistol, three magazines, six rounds, and 25 rounds of an AK assault rifle, the official added.
No arrests were made during the operation, which was launched based on specific intelligence inputs following reports of suspicious movement in the area.
Meanwhile, a joint search operation by the police, Army, and CRPF is also underway in Gurinal, Thathri, and Chatroo forests in the adjoining Kishtwar district.

According to officials, the operation was launched on Thursday after villagers reported the presence of suspected terrorists in the higher reaches. However, no contact has been established with the suspects so far.
Earlier on Saturday, Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir Nalin Prabhat, while addressing the zonal-level monthly crime review meeting, highlighted the need for maintaining the highest level of vigilance to keep the security situation in J&K under control.
Prabhat urged officers to focus on streamlining investigations to improve conviction rates, adopting intelligence-driven policing, and ensuring swift legal action against offenders, a police spokesperson said.
