Mehbooba Mufti leads the crucial PDP meeting in Srinagar, announcing key leadership appointments to address Jammu and Kashmir’s pressing issues.

Following its setback in the recent assembly elections, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) held an important meeting today at its headquarters in Srinagar.

Party president Mehbooba Mufti led the discussions, focusing on the issues most pressing to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by senior leaders, including Ab Rehman Veeri, Mohd. Sartaj Madni, Gh Nabi Lone Hanjura, Ms. Asiya Naqash, Adv Haq Khan, Basharat Bukhari, and Mohd Khurshid Alam.

They shared their inputs on strengthening the party’s role in addressing the region’s needs.

Dr Mehboob Beg was appointed as the Chief Spokesperson of the PDP, with his experience and dedication to public service being deemed crucial for effectively conveying the party’s mission.

Additionally, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, MLA from Pulwama, was elected as the leader of the legislative party.

Rafiq Ahmed Naik was appointed as Deputy Leader, while Mir Mohammad Fayaz, MLA from Kupwara, was tasked with the role of Chief Whip.

The PDP leadership also commended the work of their elected legislators during the recently concluded assembly session for raising concerns of the people.

Sources indicated that during the meeting, the party discussed the severe unemployment crisis currently afflicting Jammu and Kashmir, which has a rate higher than the national average.

Regarding the region’s reservation policy under the Lieutenant Governor’s regime, the PDP called for a fairer and more balanced system to provide deserving candidates with better opportunities for career growth.

Mehbooba Mufti reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to advocating for these changes, supporting the aspirations of the youth, and working towards a brighter and more secure future for all.

She emphasised that the party would remain on the ground, continuously raising the voice of the deprived and marginalised people of the region.
