J&K Police arrested 646 people in anti-drug drive, seized 260 kg narcotics and attached properties worth Rs 31 crore in 28 days.


The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested 646 persons in 614 FIRs and recovered more than 260 kg of narcotic substances in the first 28 days of the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan. The crackdown continues across the length and breadth of the Union Territory, with authorities demolishing properties worth Rs 31 crore in less than a month of anti-narcotics operations.
 
The ongoing campaign is one of the biggest anti-drug drives ever undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir. It has received massive public support, with 216,123 awareness events conducted across the Union Territory involving more than one crore participants.
 
As per the latest official figures, 614 FIRs have been registered under the NDPS Act, 646 persons arrested, and 435 drug peddlers apprehended. Authorities have also identified 160 drug hotspots across Jammu and Kashmir.
 
Security and enforcement agencies have seized over 260 kilograms of various narcotics, including 3.8 kg of heroin, 32.92 kg of charas, and 222.31 kg of ganja.  
 
In addition, 21 marlas of illegal poppy cultivation were destroyed during the campaign.
 
Besides, 37 structures belonging to drug peddlers have been demolished or attached. “Immovable properties worth approximately Rs 25.97 crore were seized or attached, while additional properties worth Rs 3.70 crore were demolished. Movable properties worth Rs 1.67 crore were also seized,” officials said.
 
Strict action was also taken against the misuse of transport and pharmaceutical channels associated with narcotics activities.
 
“During the campaign, 252 driving licences and 111 vehicle registrations were cancelled, while 104 drug store licences were suspended and two were cancelled,” they added.
 
The campaign was launched on April 11, 2026, by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha from Jammu as a key initiative aimed at curbing and ending drug abuse among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
