J-K police book five drug peddlers in Anantnag

During the search, 530 grams of Charas powder-like substance and 3.345 kilograms of ground poppy straw were recovered from his possession. He has been described as a notorious drug peddler.


Jammu and Kashmir Police booked five drug peddlers under the NDPS Act after recovering nearly 3.93 kilograms of narcotic drugs in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.

 

In a coordinated operation, police arrested the accused from different parts of the district.

 

In the first incident, a police party from Police Station Mattan arrested Ishfaq Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, resident of Seer Hamdan, near the Cricket Stadium on Sandooz Road.

 

During the search, 530 grams of Charas powder-like substance and 3.345 kilograms of ground poppy straw were recovered from his possession. He has been described as a notorious drug peddler.

 

In a separate operation, Police Station Bijbehara established a naka checking at NH-44 near Landing Strip Bijbehara and apprehended two individuals — Talib Gull Shah, son of Gull Mohammad Shah, resident of Qaimoh Khudwani; and Aqib Ahmad Malik, son of Gull Mohammad Malik, resident of Railway Colony Sadoora, Anantnag. Nearly 9 grams of brown sugar-like substance was recovered from them.

 

Additionally, Shafqat Ahmad Sofi, son of Mohammad Yousuf Sofi, resident of Qaimoh Khudwani, was arrested during naka checking at Railway Crossing Hassanpora, from whom 5.58 grams of a brown sugar-like substance were recovered.

 

In another case, Jaffar Mushtaq Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, resident of Tulkhan, was arrested at Tulkhan Road, Bijbehara, and 49 grams of Charas sticks concealed in corn flakes were seized from him.

 

All five accused have been sent to police custody and FIRs under relevant sections of the NDPS Act have been registered against them, they said.
